Selection of a Superintendent of Schools is one of the most important functions performed by a local board of education. When superintendent vacancies occur, GSBA provides technical assistance to local boards at their request to help them organize and conduct a systematic and effective superintendent search.

GSBA assists local boards in seeking community input, establishing selection criteria, advertising the school district's vacancy, checking references, interviewing candidates, and finalizing the selection process.
