Awards & Recognition Program

Awards for Which There Is No Open Nominations Process
(These awards are determined by the GSBA Awards Committee and no nominations are accepted)

    • GSBA HALL OF FAME -  the association’s highest honor given to that rare individual who, through the management or leadership of an educational program, has had a significant statewide impact on public education in Georgia. GSBA’s Awards Committee will be charged with nominating and selecting the recipient based on recommendations of the Executive Director. This award is not necessarily given every year.

    • GEORGIA "FRIEND OF EDUCATION" - This award is given to an individual or organization whose activity or effort has had a significant impact on public education in Georgia. The GSBA Awards Committee will nominate and select recipients based on recommendations of the Executive Director.. This award may not be given every year.

    • SUPERINTENDENT OF THE YEAR - GSBA honors the local superintendent named by the Georgia School Superintendents Association (GSSA) as the state’s Superintendent of the Year.

    • TEACHER OF THE YEAR -  GSBA honors the local school teacher chosen by the Georgia Department of Education as the Teacher of the Year
