Awards & Recognition Program

Recognizing Leadership In The Governance of Public Education

Through its awards and recognition program, GSBA recognizes annually the accomplishments of school boards, school board members and others who display exemplary efforts in promoting the improvement of public education in Georgia.  GSBA has always believed that recognition of outstanding service by local school boards, school board members, superintendents, teachers, media representatives and other educational leaders is a hallmark function of the association. Through its Awards and Recognitions Program, GSBA seeks to honor excellence and commitment to public education and continual improvement of school districts. The GSBA Awards Committee, which is comprised of members selected by the GSBA President, reviews nomination forms and selects the winners for some of the awards. Other awards or recognitions are self-nominating. The details for all awards and recognition programs are provided below. Awards and recognitions are bestowed annually (in most cases), with many being bestowed at the GSBA/GSSA Annual Conference in November/December of every year.

If you have questions or need additional information about the GSBA Awards and Recognition Program, please email Jeanette Shelnutt, GSBA Administrative Assistant, or call 800-226-1856, ext. 6844. Fax direct to 770-962-1546.

GSBA appreciates your efforts to recognize those who help to improve educational opportunities for Georgia’s children and youth.
