Superintendent's Opportunity Letter

Candidates with superintendent experience are preferred, though it is not mandatory. • Experience as a principal is important, but not mandatory. • Experience as a classroom teacher is mandatory. • Candidates should be from the Southeastern United States and make a commitment, if selected by the Board, to live in Oglethorpe County. • Candidates should have a documented history of leadership in community organizations and other community affairs. • Candidates should have a documented history of leadership in professional organizations. • Candidates should possess special expertise in budgets, administration, personnel and curriculum. • Experience in effective leadership and management in a growing educational environment is desired. • Candidates should utilize a team-building approach to educational leadership and be committed to fostering cooperative relations between the school district, the board of education, and community leaders and organizations. • Candidates should be capable of working cooperatively with the board and community and be visibly involved in school and community activities. • Candidates should hold high expectations of students in the areas of academics, discipline and extracurricular involvement. • Candidates should hold high expectations of personnel in the areas of leadership, professional conduct and support of the school system.
