The GSBA Board of
Directors was the first group to use GSBA eBoard to conduct paperless board meetings.
The Board's first paperless meeting was held in August 2001.
"I was so
impressed with how GSBA eBoard improved the workflow and communication of
information with the GSBA board of directors that I began sharing my experience
with my fellow board members in DeKalb County.
Our board has since completed training on leadership and the effective
use of technology and implemented GSBA eBoard. Our board and staff are already
beginning to see a difference in managing information."
Brad Bryant, GSBA President and Board Chair of the DeKalb Board of Education
"GSBA eBoard is
an easy-to-use product and will greatly enhance our system of sharing
information with the board of education."
Dr. Edward Bouie, DeKalb County Schools Executive Director for Technology

Gordon County Schools on their use of GSBA eBoard, from a May 26, 2005, news report in the Calhoun Times:
"The public has a more open access to the board of education by way of our Web site," says Linda Whitacre, director of technology and media for the school system. "They have a clearer picture of the board members' action items." While the board members instantly access the items of discussion on their laptop computers, the items are projected on a large screen for the public.
The paperless method has other benefits as well, Whitacre added. "We are also saving resources, including paper, postage, and personnel time in preparation of documents," she said.
Time was also an issue, Superintendent Mike Stanton added. "Previously, we mailed items that needed discussion to our board members and it can take several days for mail to get from here to there, which limited their time in reviewing the items," Stanton explained. "With this method, they are able to review items as soon as they are posted."
Board Chairman Wanda Davis said she is thrilled with the new method. "I was running out of room to put paper," she said. "This method is much better in every way possible."
