Joseph White of the Mitchell County Board of Education was installed as the 2009-2010 president of the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA). He was installed as president at GSBA’s Summer Conference and Delegate Assembly held in Savannah June 12-13. Mr. White was previously president-elect of the association. He has chaired the Governmental Operations Committee and served on the GSBA Awards Committee and has represented GSBA on the NSBA Federal Relations Network (FRN). White is a graduate of LaGrange College with a B.S. in Professional Leadership and is currently working towards a degree in criminal justice. 

Mr. White has been a member of the Mitchell County Board of Education for seven years and has served as chair since 2005. Known as a leader in Mitchell County, Mr. White has been named “Man of the Year” by Beulah Baptist Church, Alpha Kappa Alpha, the Mitchell-Baker High School, the Mitchell County Relay for Life and the Mitchell County NAACP. He has served in several community groups including the Mitchell County Hospital Authority, the Mitchell County Children and Youth Council and the Kiwanis Club. He is a sales manager for the Equity Group - Georgia Division, where he has worked for 30 years.
