Recognizing Leadership In The Governance of Public Education
Through its awards and recognition program, GSBA recognizes the accomplishments of school boards, school board members and others who display exemplary efforts in promoting the improvement of public education in Georgia. GSBA believes that recognition of outstanding service by local school boards, school board members, superintendents, teachers, media representatives and other educational leaders is a hallmark function of the association.
There are two categories of awards:
- Awards with an open nominations process
- Awards with a closed nominations process
The GSBA Awards Committee, which is composed of members selected by the GSBA President, reviews nomination forms and selects the winners for several awards. Awards and recognitions are bestowed annually (in most cases), with many being bestowed at the GSBA/GSSA Annual Conference in November/December of every year.
