Advocacy Workshop Focuses On The Changing Political Landscape
Register today for the GSBA Advocacy Workshop to be held November 8, 2010 at the Marriott Macon City Center Hotel in Macon, Georgia.
Election Day, November 2, 2010, will be an exciting day in Georgia -- we will all be watching the results to see if the state leadership will be split between the parties or if one party will take all.
Will we see...
- A new Governor from one party and the legislature led by another?
- One party controlling the Governor's seat, legislature and the State Board of Education?
- A State School Superintendent from a different party than the Governor who appoints the State Board of Education?
- A Lt. Governor from one party presiding over the Senate led by the other party?
- What do the changes mean for education? For local governance?
And what about that Tax Reform Council? Where is that headed?
Find out the answers to these questions and more at the 2010 Advocacy Workshop on November 8th!
Speakers include:
- Dr. Charles Bullock, Richard B. Russell Professor of Political Science, University of Georgia
- What just happened in the election?
- What does it mean?
- Dr. David Sjoquist, Dan E. Sweat Distinguished Chair in Educational and Community Policy; Member of the Special Council on Tax Reform and Fairness for Georgians
- What is the revenue picture now?
- Update on the work of Tax Reform Council
- GSBA Staff and General Counsel Phil Hartley
